Whether you take one of the exciting shore excursions while visiting Victoria or choose to browse the area on your own, our shuttle service is ideal for getting to and from town. There was a sign on the front of the bus that said Princess Cruises. I just checked and here's the link to the shuttle I was referring to: Thanks Mary for taking time to answer my question. There were many buses, cabs, etc at the pier when we docked. We were told there was another shuttle offered into town that tickets could be purchased at the pier. $18 total for the two of us roundtrip and booked through the ship. Princess offered a shuttle that went from the pier to the town (Empress Hotel corner)every 20 minutes. What is the Big Bus? Maybe we can just get on the bus at Victoria port? Glad to see that they had a scooter under the bus. Is this a Princess excursion? We will be on Celebrity with a mobility scooter. Step stairs to get into the bus and the person on the scooter had to climb the stairs. ) When we got on the Bus in Victoria to head back to the ship, they had one person in a wheelchair getting off (there's was a lift) and one person whose scooter was dismantled and stored underneath. They will have answers to your questions.Ĭan you tell me a little more about when you're settled in? :ĭidn't do any excursions except the private shuttle into Victoria. Again, recommend contacting the Visitor's Bureau in Ketchkian. We aren't back from our vacation until later today and it will take a a few days to get back on track. I don't have the answers for you about Ketchikan. Why not contact the Visitor's Bureau (link above) and asked them what they recommend. This time (last week) we missed the port because of bad weather/seas out of San Francisco. We walked into town and around last year with friend in a wheelchair. Sharon, I don't remember hills in Juneau. Will I have issues at either? How far is it from Creek Street to the Totem Heritage Center? Will I need to take the free shuttle? Is it accessible. Ketchikan: I plan to go to Creek Street and Totem Heritage Center. I plan to see the Russian church and capitol. Juneau: I thought it was mostly hills? I use a scooter to get around. The 2nd link will give you the berth code. This is the site you use to determine where your ship will dock: There is not a lot of car traffic in town, but really not a great idea to push the wheelchair though the streets in my opinion. The walk into town is pretty flat and the town is too except for the board walk issues. It proved too hard to get around so they did not stay in town. In Skagway the sidewalks are actually board walks and in many areas were at least 6 inches up from the street level. I started another thread that has a number of photos of the train car lift if you would like to see it also: Car has a special lift for wheelchairs and scooters. Skagway - They rode the White Pass Railway. There is an elevator to go to the downstairs area and also steps. I took her thru the gift shop, aisles weren't too bad. The building on top was pretty easy to maneuver. Ramps to the tram and special metal things put over the space between the platform and the tram. Juneau - Easy walk into town, just a few blocks. Many stores tho too crowded for them to go in. Ketchikan - no problem, got around town easily. Last time we went, we went with friends and the wife used a wheelchair. I'm going to post the port maps here in hopes that they will be of help to anyone wanting to see how far it is from the ship to town.
